"Piece Flag" is a mosaic created with handmade tiles using materials coming from countries all over the world. There are at least 175 tiles left out representing both the countries that are not represented in the materials as well as the unfinished nature of our democracy.

Artist's Statement

"Piece flag was born out of the frustration and anger that I felt over seeing the rise of acts of hate and violence being done in the name of patriotism. I saw how the US flag was being used as a symbol of exclusion and supremacy of one people over another. I wanted to make a piece of art that represents what I believe this symbol should represent, that the idea of America and democracy is about the diversity of people who make up our country. As I places the the tiles, one by one, slowly my anger transformed into hope as I thought about all of the people and the causes that have been fought over and hard won throughout the history of our country."  Scott Moore July 4th, 2026
